Events Near Liberty Village — Your Venue Guide
Liberty Village sits next to more major event venues than almost any other Toronto neighbourhood. Here is how to make the most of each one.
BMO Field (10-minute walk)
BMO Field is literally in your backyard. Home to Toronto FC (MLS), Toronto Argonauts (CFL), and the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
Getting there: Walk south on Strachan Avenue or through the pedestrian paths near Exhibition Place. Do not drive — street parking is banned on event days, and the lots charge $30-40.
Before the game: Pre-game at Liberty Commons at Big Rock Brewery or Brazen Head Irish Pub — both are a 5-minute walk from the stadium.
Capacity: 30,000 (expanded for World Cup)
Metro Toronto Convention Centre (20-minute streetcar)
The MTCC hosts some of Toronto's largest events — Fan Expo, the Auto Show, trade conferences, and corporate events.
Getting there: Take the 504 King streetcar east to Union Station, then walk south on Simcoe Street. Total trip: 20-25 minutes.
Tips for LV residents: If you are attending a multi-day conference, commute by streetcar rather than driving. Parking at the MTCC costs $25-35/day. The 504 ride is $3.35.
Nearby food: The MTCC area has limited restaurant options. Consider eating at a Liberty Village restaurant before heading to your event — NODO and Impact Kitchen are quick, solid options.
Exhibition Place & Enercare Centre (15-minute walk)
Exhibition Place hosts the annual Canadian National Exhibition (CNE) from mid-August to Labour Day, plus trade shows, consumer expos, and sporting events year-round.
Getting there: Walk south through the neighbourhood — it is a straight 15-minute walk from most Liberty Village condos.
CNE season tip: The CNE draws massive crowds for 3 weeks every August. East Liberty Street and Strachan Avenue become congested. Walk or take the 504 — do not try to park near Exhibition Place during CNE.
Budweiser Stage (20-minute walk)
Toronto's premier outdoor concert venue sits on the waterfront just south of Exhibition Place. Capacity: 16,000.
Getting there: Walk south through Exhibition Place and follow signs to the waterfront. It is a pleasant 20-minute walk on summer evenings.
Post-concert tip: The pedestrian bridge back to Strachan Avenue gets extremely crowded after shows. Leave 5 minutes before the encore or wait 20 minutes after it ends. Walking home to Liberty Village takes 15-20 minutes — no Uber surge, no parking nightmare.
Toronto Congress Centre (15-minute drive)
Further west at Dixon Road, the Congress Centre hosts large trade shows and conventions. Not walkable from Liberty Village, but accessible via:
- Uber/Lyft: 15-20 minutes, $15-25
- TTC: 504 to Kipling Station, then 52 Lawrence West bus. ~45 minutes.
Coca-Cola Coliseum (15-minute walk)
Adjacent to Exhibition Place, the Coliseum hosts Toronto Marlies (AHL hockey), concerts, and special events. Capacity: 8,000.
Getting there: Same route as Exhibition Place — walk south through the neighbourhood.
Planning Around Events
Liberty Village residents should check these calendars regularly:
- BMO Field schedule — Toronto FC and Argonauts games affect parking and traffic
- Exhibition Place events — enercare centre.com has the event calendar
- Budweiser Stage concerts — summer evenings bring crowds through the neighbourhood
- CNE dates — 3 weeks in August with daily impact on transit and streets
The neighbourhood is vibrant because of its proximity to these venues — but it means 30-40 event days per year where traffic, parking, and noise are higher than normal. Embrace it or plan around it.
